Production Process and Application Scenarios of PET Tempered Pre-coated Film

2025/10/29 14:28

The core production process for PET tempered pre-coated film can be summarized into four key stages: substrate pretreatment → functional coating → lamination and setting → slitting and winding. Throughout the entire process, temperature and tension must be strictly controlled to ensure stable film performance.

Specific production steps are as follows:

1. Substrate Pre-treatment: Clean the PET substrate (removing surface oils and impurities) and perform corona treatment to enhance surface tension. This ensures subsequent coatings adhere firmly, serving as a critical prerequisite for preventing film layer delamination.

2. Functional Coating: Apply hot melt adhesive (e.g., EVA, PO) uniformly onto the pretreated PET substrate using precision coating equipment (typically employing a comma doctor blade or micro-groove coating method). Coating thickness must be precisely controlled between 5μm and 12μm, directly impacting the film's adhesion performance and transparency.

3. Laminating and Setting: The coated substrate enters a drying tunnel (temperature approx. 60°C-100°C) for rapid adhesive curing. Some products incorporate a functional release liner at this stage (protecting the adhesive layer for later use). Finally, cooling rolls reduce temperature and set the film, ensuring a smooth, wrinkle-free surface.

4. Slitting and Rewinding: Based on customer specifications, a slitter cuts the wide master roll into finished rolls of various widths (e.g., 300mm, 600mm). Tension control and visual inspection are performed simultaneously to remove defective products. The finished rolls are then packaged and stored.

Raw materials

The application scenarios of PET tempered pre-coated film span four core sectors: printing and packaging, food and daily chemicals, electronics, and advertising displays. At its core, it provides a “protection + value-added” surface solution for various substrates.

Specific application scenarios include:

Printing and Packaging: Used for book covers, magazine pages, art books, posters, etc., enhancing print gloss and texture while providing scratch and stain resistance to extend shelf life. Also applied as surface laminates for gift boxes and planner stickers to improve tactile feel and premium appearance.

Food & Personal Care: Serves as a laminating material for food packaging (e.g., cookie boxes, chocolate outer boxes) and personal care product packaging (e.g., skincare paper boxes, shampoo packaging boxes). Meets food-grade safety standards, offering waterproof and oil-resistant properties while protecting packaging graphics from fading.

Electronics Industry: Suitable for electronic product packaging (e.g., paper outer boxes for phones and headphones), offering anti-static and high-temperature resistance to prevent surface damage during transport. Also used for surface protection of certain electronic components to prevent dust adhesion.

Advertising & Display: Applied to outdoor billboards, lightbox graphics, and exhibition posters. Features strong UV resistance and weatherproofing, maintaining image clarity and preventing aging in outdoor environments.
